Went up to Midway to feel like I was in the wilderness without being too far from a Maverik.

Surprisingly, getting helicoptered out of Southern

Surprisingly, getting helicoptered out of Southern Utah wasn't the entire reason I went down there! This is Reflection Canyon, a little offshoot of Lake Powell. This photo doesn't do justice to how absolutely HUGE these rock formations are. When we were planning this trip, we were estimating that those two rock formations in the middle were probably somewhere between 30-50 feet tall. Not even close, we were off by about an order of magnitude. From where we were standing to the surface of the water was easily 400 feet, meaning those rocks are between 150-250 feet tall. Even having been there I can't get a sense of scale. I want to get a new shot of it with a boat in the water to give some scale to the image. Although in light of recent events, I think I'll take the boat instead of hiking this time.
